SaniNova

Last summer a new customer phoned ShowerServe to investigate a faulty SaniNova shower/steam cabinet. It wasn't letting the water come through at a reasonable showering temperature. 99% of all thermostatic showers will require a thermostatic cartridge replacement or certainly a descale and service. This particular cartridge was damaged and so required a new cartridge, unbeknown to me at the time was that SaniNova had gone bust. I spent about 8 weeks trying to track down, source and find products & answers as to where all the spares may be but with no other answers except, "They went bust"!! In the mean time the customer was very understanding and patient while i tried to come up with a solution that wouldnt involve throwing away their steam cabinet. I finally sourced a replacement shower valve that with a bit of modification fitted into the SaniNova Cabinet. Since then i have made it a personal quest to find products that will fit SaniNova products.
SaniNova still produce acrylic baths and panels to date. They are under the control of a North American company called MAAX. They have no information on the past suppliers that SaniNova used when it was producing its products in Europe. I cannot believe that a company that produced 100s of 000s of these units just disappears without leaving some clues as to where its parts originated from!
If anyone reading this had any connection with SaniNova at all and may have info on these mysterious suppliers then ShowerServe would love for you to get in touch!

  1. Hi, I desperately need a replacement glass door for my Saninova (Hydrolux) duo steam enclosure. I would be truly grateful if you could either supply or put me in touch with a supplier of spares.

    Thanks Les May

    1. Hi everyone out there, welcome to us lucky Saninova shower users. They are great!!!! The nightmare is ......... as you already know like me lol. Anyway, still got mine after installing it in my loft 6 years ago !!!! after months of searching online and phoning around the world including America, finally found these details 2 year ago, in Italy !!!!!! because I wasn't going to get rid of mine.

export dept. price + transport cost are eur 50,00. Feb 2013

The story ended by 3 local plumbers coming over, and one 2 of them fixing it on different occasions from parts from Showerserve !whom I cant find anymore,he was a nice man.

Anyway I emailed the company in Italy and hey presto got a lead and the name of the part but mine was fixed so I didn't place an order by email but will do if it goes wrong again because they seem to have taken over Saninova parts wheeeeee. Hope they are still around, so please forgive me if you grind to a halt. But I did get email replies back from Italy so I was happy in the end.

Valve/Cartridge 1/2 inch cartridge from SOL was what I needed.

    3. got this info from a tech dept in America as well who confirmed that the manufacturer was in Italy:

"Before you spend money though, I would recommend you remove the cartridge and soak it in a product like CLR as the cartridge can become clogged with mineral deposits or calcium and this will effect the operation of the cartridge. Soaking this can bring the cartridge back to life and eliminate the need to pay for a new cartridge.

  3. Hi - I'm hoping you can help! We have a Saninova Steam shower (not sure what model - how would I find out?). Everything functions fine, but the sealed control panel has cracked where you press the on/off button, leaving access directly to the actual button which sits behind the cover.

I'm not sure this is safe as I assume the cover is there to create the seal and keep any water out...not sure I want to experiment with this while standing in water :)

I'd like to get the control panel replaced so that it's all 100% safe again...but by the sounds of things it doesn't sound like I'm going to get one from Saninova!

What's your thoughts? Many thanks in advance for your help.

  8. Hi all,

An update, if you have an older Saninova Steam Cabinet (Malindi circa 2006/7). My thermostatic mixer only delivered lukewarm water. Stripped valve and cartridge, cleaned in mix of white vinegar and hot water to remove limescale. Then searched web for a match for cartridge. Found it I believe, awaiting confirmation from photo sent to supplier. Think it's the Gessi thermostatic cartridge 1166 ( Italian) supplied by bathroom spareparts.Co.uk Tel 02084416383. Fingers crossed retail at 104gbp. BBeats, new cabinet or new shower.keep you posted.

  13. Hi all, I have a Saninova Malibu steamcabin. The diverter core is blocked in a closed situation of the tap. It is not possible to turn the tap. So I Am looking for a replacement of the diverter core. Reading all your comments I suppose this is hard to get. Does anyone have a clue how to solve this? Leo

  14. I'm after a 1700mm "P shape" bath panel for my Saninova shower bath. The shower "P" is on the LH side as you look at the bath side on. If anyone has one or knows if someone somewhere has one in stock I'd be very grateful if they could let me know. Many thanks, Howard Thomas
